Exhibit Halls

Cultural and Academic Network Hall

Beginning this year at the 2018 Annual Conference in Los Angeles, CAA launches the Cultural and Academic Network Hall, a new innovation designed to put conference attendees in direct contact with representatives from many of our Institutional Members and cultural institutions. Part exhibition hall, part candidate center, and part meeting place, the Cultural and Academic Network Hall is the new space for candidates, the general public, cultural institutions, and academic departments to meet face-to-face.

Participating museums, colleges, and universities will be able to reserve a full-sized (8 x 10 foot), pipe-and-draped booth in the Network Hall. Organizations may also reserve Candidate Center booths as part of their booth package to meet with candidates for open positions. Candidate Center booths are also available to non-exhibitors for 90-minute slots (see pricing below), but must be booked in advance.

The Cultural and Academic Network Hall is a great way for department leadership and alumni offices to connect with past students and faculty and to meet new students and instructors. Due to size restrictions of the hall, the Network Hall will be limited to the first 50 organizations who register for a booth. LA-based residents will be able to visit the Network hall without registering for the conference. This will allow the opportunity to invite area residents to come visit your booth or schedule an interview. Access to the Network Hall will be free an open to the public.

There will be 16 Candidate Center booths created adjacent to the booth area within the Network Hall. This will give interviewers the opportunity to meet prospective faculty and program candidates in a private and professional setting, removing the need to conduct interviews in private hotel rooms or other locations. Each booth can hold up to five people comfortably. Catering will be available at an additional cost.

To reserve space in the Cultural and Academic Network Hall, fill out the ACADEMIC NETWORK HALL BOOTH RESERVATION, or contact Paul Skiff (by email) or phone at 212-392-4413.

To book Interview Booth time slots contact Teresa Lopez or call 212-392-4422.

Pricing

The price for the full sized booth is as follows (including four chairs, one six-foot long table, and name sign. Electricity and internet will be an additional charge.):

Exhibition Booth and Interview Booth Pricing
CAA Institutional Members (all tiers) $400
Non-member Institutions $600
Interview Booth (non-exhibitor) (90 minutes) $100

The Cultural and Academic Network Hall will be organized in addition to CAA’s popular Book and Trade Fair which will continue this year as usual. We anticipate more than 130 vendors will be reserving booths in the Book and Trade Fair.

Idea Exchange

Also new this year will be the Idea Exchange. This will be an opportunity for conference attendees to meet informally with others who are interested in similar topics – or to allow attendees to learn a little more about a topic unfamiliar, but of interest. These conversations will be held at large round tables adjacent to the Cultural and Academic Network Hall and will have informal and ad hoc conversations facilitated by someone knowledgeable in the respective fields. Topics will include: Medieval Art, Latinx Art, Getting a Job, Gallery Representation and many other topics of interest to CAA Members.

Poster Sessions

CAA’s Poster Sessions will also be in the Cultural and Academic Network Hall. The Poster Sessions are presentations displayed on bulletin boards by individuals or small groups. They concisely communicate the essence of the presenter’s research, synthesizing its main ideas and directions. Poster Sessions offer excellent opportunities for extended informal discussion and conversation focused on topics of scholarly or pedagogical research.
