Organized by CAA’s Services to Artists Committee, the Distinguished Artist Interviews features esteemed artists in discussion with colleagues in the field. The Distinguished Artist Interviews are held as part of ARTspace, a program partially funded by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Distinguished Artist Interviews are free and open to the public.

The Promise Piece, Ten Years Later, A message from Yoko Ono

This year we have a very special addition to the Distinguished Artist Interviews.
Ten years ago at the CAA 2008 Annual Conference in Dallas, Yoko Ono performed a piece called “The Promise Piece,” for which she smashed a large Chinese vase and distributed pieces to the conference attendees. Yoko asked that everyone with a shard bring it to CAA Annual Conference in 2018 to reassemble the vase.
This year we will honor Yoko Ono at the Distinguished Artist Interviews by playing an original and unpublished poem she recorded just for the 2018 Annual Conference. Be there to hear this original work and if you have one of the shards from 2008, be sure to bring it to the conference and we will reassemble the vase.
